This painting was really difficult--the colored armor was something I
had no experience with whatsoever and I had to play with it a lot to get
it to look right. This scene takes place in Russia, but I
finished it a few days before the Twin Towers were attacked. It
was a very sensitive issue at the time, and we didn't want any confusion
about this shot taking place in the rubble of Manhattan, so Tom Brevoort and I came up with the idea of
adding the Russian signs and it worked out perfect. One of the signs say
"insurance company" which is really bad humor on my part....I am
sorry. |
