- (Scroll down to view all images) BLACK TIGER: LEGACY of FURY
by independent publisher
John Hervey. This scene is my portrayal of the two main
characters Jennifer and Pacific Fong. The
painting itself started off as a brighter dusk scene, but at the very end,
we realized a
night time scene would work much better.

- Black Tiger #2 As Jenn finds the Black
Tiger artifact, we wanted a very striking effect to show that this garment
held a lot of power. Of course, the outfit does not glow all the
time! I love the idea that you cannot see Jenn's face and her
reaction is conveyed only through body language. I think that by
having her hold the bolt cutters so limply, it really helps to imply
that she is awestruck or stunned even though you cannot see her
face. Gratefully, John trusted me to use this unorthodox
composition and it turned out perfect!

- Black Tiger #4 Here, Jenn confronts her
power-mad brother Eric. I borrowed a little story-telling trick that I
used on some of the Deadline covers by having her reaching into her
jacket. A small detail like this adds a whole new dimension to the
scene...Is she reaching for a gun? or is she hiding something? I
ain't tellin you, Jack! You'll just have to take a peek at the
insides.
