Being a big fan of movie poster illustrators Drew Struzan and Dave Dorman, I decided to emulate a few of their design techniques on this painting for Universal Studios. Of course, this is a horizontal layout and most film posters are vertical affairs, calling for a few different requirements. Anyway, these artists are awesome, and their portraits manage to capture an actor's likeness in a way that is accurate and ultra-heroic! Now with the industry being highly dependant on photo manipulation and 3d art, you see a lot of these painter's techniques used by art studios and advertising agencies around the world. Anyway, I tried to ad my own flair to this piece and its one of my favorite pieces of art in my art studio and advertising art gallery.
